What DOES the parent-nanny population look like?!

As many of you know, I stepped away from an academic research position a few years back to buckle down as primary parent of 2 small kids at home.  That didn't stop my brain from reaching into tough psycho-social problems needing to be solved.

One of those big problems centers around the online self-search communities for parents and nannies.  Many of the professional nannies and communities I have come to know through developing my Same Team Online Course have told me the self-search spaces are like the "wild wild west."  Nanny agencies offer incredible services, but many parents still opt for the self-search sites like care.com.  In consideration of these self-search communities, I have made a guess or hypothesis (please note the graphic is NOT based on real data) of what the knowledge base of the nanny-parent population generally looks like.  (p.s. I would be the first person to guide a research team to figure out what the real data looks like for this!)  As you can see very few parents and nannies in this space KNOW and DO what is necessary for a healthy and productive nanny-parent working relationship.  My online course SOLVES this problem, once and for all.

Because MOST parents AND nannies in the self-search spaces are not adequately plugged into nanny industry standards we are seeing a lot of friction unfold.  This has serious implications for both sides involving safety, a standard set of expectations, professionalism, and how parents and nannies generally go about working together.

Just like the wild, wild west, there is currently a chaotic culture, or at best uneasy, culture between parents and nannies.  You can see it unfolding on the message boards on the daily.  For example, parents are upset a newer nanny may not have a sense of reliability and professional nannies are insulted with starter nanny rates.  If we all know a bit more about the nanny industry and great organizations like the www.ina.org we'd all be on better footing.   You can, however, take the first right steps in working with a parent OR nanny today with my free workshop.  See you on the inside!
